Success Story

My Success Story
MP aka Batman

“Success is no accident”. This famous line of Pele’ has inspired me to reach the level of IT Demand Manager of Taskus, one of the biggest IT companies in the world. Reaching this far in my profession has never been simple as I likewise began at the bottom.

Back in college, I am just an average student, and I am not even a recipient of any awards, but I always make sure that I am one step ahead of everyone. After finishing BSECE degree at College of Technological Sciences-Cebu (CTS-C), I feel confident that I am already equipped with the knowledge in my field and the values I got from my teachers. Hence, I am excited to do the things that I am passionate about, TO WORK AND LEAD A TEAM.

However, things did not work out as expected. A few months after my graduation, I faced a real challenge when I found it hard to land a job in the ECE field. Nonetheless, it did not stop me from pushing myself beyond my limits and became a forward-thinker. My part-time jobs in college as a computer technician and satellite dish installer gave me a good foundation to embark into a more challenging world away from my Alma Mater.

However, even with the tons of application letters that I submitted to different companies at MEPZA, I was not lucky to get a job.  After four months of seemingly endless job search, I was referred by a friend to work for a company that is contracting Telco jobs in the Philippines. So, it was the start of my stint being a Telco Engineer, then I worked my way up and became a Team Leader. Working in the Telco industry enabled me to work with Globe, Smart, Sun Cellular, and Huawei and let me travel all around the Philippines upgrading cell sites and fiber optics.

Since I love challenges and I am a risk-taker, I started to aim higher and pushed myself to go beyond my limits. Inspired to achieve more, I joined Accenture, and I was given a Team Lead post for their Telco Account. With dedication and drive to acquire a higher responsibility, it was not long after when I was promoted to Service Delivery Lead. But things did not fall as expected. After four years with this company, I started to feel that I was not growing anymore. Hence, I feel the need to make a shift in my career.  Then I welcome another remarkable opportunity when I was hired as Project Manager in Ingram Micro. I really enjoyed working with this company. The environment and my peers were just brilliant.

I did not stay long with Ingram Micro because I was offered another Managerial position. One day, I received an international call. At first, I was just thinking that it might be from a Credit Card agent. To my amazement, it was from a company that offers me a consultancy job in the Google Asia Pacific. With such a prestigious company, I never had second thoughts but accepted the offer. This is a big leap in my career. For three (3) years, I worked with Google as a Technical Project Manager. For me, Google is the best company so far. I was able to travel all around APAC in that entire time. Now, I am no longer working with Google. An offer came from Taskus, a big IT company as an IT Demand Manager. With Taskus now, I am enjoying every moment of my time in this company.

To this day, I appreciate where I am and what I am doing. I also greatly believe that I would not be in the position I am today if not of CTS-C, a small school with a big heart and its wonderful people who are just like a family. Teachers are friendly and supportive who made my entire college life so meaningful yet, challenging. They believed in my leadership skills, so I was appointed as President of the BSECE and Supreme Student Council. And I never failed their expectations. The knowledge and wisdom that I have right now as an IT Manager have been planted by my wonderful teachers. So, I make it a point to stay connected with some of them. Wherever success brings me, I am forever proud to be a “TEXIAN”. And I will never cut my affiliation to my Alma Mater.

Success is not solely what is taught in any school, but it is rather a lifetime experience of hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, and sacrifices that will shape a person’s mindset. So, just like me, you can also be successful if you have the drive to put yourself beyond your limits.

Finally, I would like to share with everyone my secret. No matter how hard our life will be, always remember that there will be SOMEONE out there who is just waiting for us to call HIM. Keep the faith and do your best :)
